I Need to Exercise

I have let the excuse of being too busy get in the way of exercising. But now that my youngest kid is over two that excuse is losing its power. The time has come for me to prioritize exercise.

Running

The week before my oldest was born I ran over 30 miles. A few months before that I ran a half marathon in less than 100 minutes. But now running two miles sounds like my absolute max, and I wouldn't be able to do that very fast.

I would love to get back to that level one day, but I know that is very far away. And honestly I think that is partly why I haven't started back up yet. It's discouraging to not be nearly as good as I used to be. But it's time.to get over that. Maybe a year from now I'll be able to run that far and fast again.

Yoga

I also use to do a lot of yoga. In fact I did a few months of daily yoga before I started to run the last time I was consistently running. That prepared me more than I thought it would for running. In fact it took me several months of building up my legs for running to actually needed to improve my cardio.

I did power yoga or vinyasa flow yoga. This type of yoga is moving between yoga posses, and you would not believe the cardio exercise that it is. I truly believe this is even harder than running, and it's not even close really.

If you are curious about it look for some videos on YouTube, that's what I always used. Specifically Sean Vogue, I really enjoyed his videos.

So what's holding me back? Well it's two things really. It's hard for me to take the time for myself to do and force my wife to do all the kid work while I am gone.

And the second is because it sounds hard alright.
