Dang Legos are so cool!

The combination of building something, amazing themes that I love, and creating something beautiful leads to an incredible product. It's easy to see why they can fill aisles in stores with Lego sets. I want to build them all.

What Gets Me Excited

There are several things about Legos that make me so interested in them. I really enjoy building things, I get pretty passionate about fandoms, and I like being able to show off or display my interests.

Lego makes building fun and pretty easy. The sets come with very detailed steps that make building the sets satisfying. I tend to gravitate toward the larger sets just because I love the level of details the sets can deliver in those sets. And while the steps are easy to follow it doesn't make it so easy that I don't feel a sense of accomplishment by building it. It's a perfect balance of difficult enough to be engaging but not so challenging I abandon the build.

I am not afraid to admit I am a Disney fan. And I have a few Disney lego sets that I love. A Mickey Mouse with scenes from a few other Disney movies. And a 566 piece Heihei from Moana. And there are other fandoms I am in that have great representation from Lego. I desperately want one of the huge Lord of the Rings sets.

And these sets aren't just cool because they are subjects I enjoy. Lego designs some amazing sets. I love the Moana movies but I am also a man in my mid-thirties. And yet they have designed a Lego set I would proudly display on my shelf. Lego gets it, they know how find a part of a fandom and turn it into a must have set.

The aesthetic of Lego just takes a model to the next level. I would have a statue or a piece of art and be happy with it but when it's made with Lego it just adds a different personality to it. I don't want to say it's better, it's just different and puts a certain spin on the piece. I love the self made look it brings to piece, and I think it offers an insight into how much someone likes the piece if they were willing to put in the time to make it.

My Complaints

There aren't many but they exist.

They are just so expensive. The Lord of the Rings Rivendell set is 499 dollars. Ouch. That's not an impulse buy, because if it was I would have it already. But I can't justify that kind of purchase on a whim. It might even be an unfair criticism because I don't really think they are unfair prices, that is a huge set and no doubt would be a source of hours of entertainment and then you would have a cool piece to display for years.

I Want More

So yea Legos are amazing and I want to do more! Just have to start saving and maybe try to get my wife as invested in Lord of the Rings as me so it becomes her idea to get it!
