I love this show. It is a genius idea. Give funny people a ridiculous task and film them doing it. And there is just something about British humor that I just can't get enough of, it's somehow both more childish and more vulgar.

I owe the creator and co-host Alex Horne a huge thank you! I am so glad he came up with the concept then clearly fully committed to make it as good as it could possible be. To my understanding he comes up with most of if not all of the tasks on the show. They show incredible creativity and vision. There is always something comical that a contest can do to try to complete the task, or even better they are forced to do something outrageous so it is just organically funny.

YouTube channel

Over the past few weeks I have been watching all the old series on the Taskmaster youtube channel. I am familiar with a handful of British comedians, James Acaster and Jon Richardson to name a couple, so I first picked through to find the series with them. Then I just started to go through all of them. I still have lots to watch.

I am so glad they are available in this format. Makes it very accessible for me to watch, even more so since i have YouTube premium. This is never the case for shows in the US. Or it is for comparable shows and I am just ignorant of that. But I will chalk it up a cultural difference, however fair or unfair that may be.

Other British Interests

This is not the first time I have binged British content. I have also enjoyed other sketch/game shows like 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and the Big Fat Quiz of the Year. And who doesn't enjoy the Great British Bake Off? James Bond is always great too! Oh geez and I almost forgot the original The Office!

There are also several bands I enjoy that are British. Keane and Muse for example, I also thought The Killers were British without ever looking it up they are not, but they do say they get a lot of inspiration from British bands so I don't feel too silly for thinking that. My list felt a little weak so a quick google search gave me several more bands I like that I didn't even realize were British.

I don't know why but British media just appeals to me. But whatever the reason I am glad I can easily consume it.

Summary

So Taskmaster has been on my mind a lot lately. Because it makes me laugh and I really appreciate how creative it is. While writing this post I kept thinking about all the things I could talk about related to this show. But I don't want this posts to be too long so they will just have to go unmentioned for now. But, I have several more series to watch but after that I am just I will find another British show to scratch that itch.
